Letter to Horace R. Hotchkiss, 1842, May 13.

Facsimile of a letter to Horace Hotchkiss from Joseph Smith, written in Nauvoo, Illinois. In the letter Smith writes of resolving debts through a "general settlement," and that he had hoped something would arise to let him avoid the "painful necessity of resorting to such measures." He writes that if the courts will "do justice to the cause" that Hotchkiss will be fully compensated. The letter was written and signed for Joseph Smith by Willard Richards.
